Abundant Competition

One Soul Awakening

What is competition in a world of abundance?

When I wandered around the Hamilton Wedding Show a few weekends back, I was surrounded by the crazy beautiful world of all things wedding. It’s a massive industry.  A beast. And with only a few areas: Officiant, Venue, Decor, Photographer, Attire and Flowers. Don’t be offended if I missed your expertise - I generally leave after the ceremony ;)

So with that in mind, how do we all “compete”?  I was asked while wandering around that day, who my competitors were.  And to be honest, it stumped me. I mean, yes, other wedding officiants.  But really, are we competing?

I can’t help but feel that we don’t need to compete. What I do may be the same service as another, however, they don’t have me.  And I don’t have them. I love that I attract a specific client. You draw what you project. Not every type of wedding is made for me, for my style.  And I’m totally ok with that! In fact, I kinda pride myself on that. And maybe that’s what sets me apart. I don’t want to please everyone, but for those that I do...I wanna knock their socks off!

Then it got me thinking about the world, population, and too many other things that make my head spin. And it made me think harder about abundance.  The fact that this planet is abundant and perfect and that we can each have everything we’ve ever wanted. And I do truly believe that. When we put our focus into what we want, I mean, what we REALLY want.  And we are clear with our thoughts, ideas and intentions, we will get exactly that. I can attest that it really does work that way.

And with that note, I don’t want to compete (tell that to my husband after a game of Monopoly!).  I am me, and I’m the only me out there. Can we all say that together now? Create what you want and go for it! Be clear, precise and thoughtful, and you’ll never have to use the word “competition”.  Because you’ll always have exactly what you are asking for.

One Soul Awakening

Ok.  So I need to bring this up.  Over the past few months I have had many couples emailing me asking if I’m “ok if they are gay”.  I’ve even had a few ask if I was allowed to marry two women together.

To be honest, I was floored.  I mean, who am I to stand in between two people wanting to love each other and spend the rest of their lives together? To think about how far we’ve come by 2019, we all fought for people to marry someone of the same sex.  And now, us who can legally do it, say no? Sorry, what?

So then over the weekend I spent time at a wedding expo.   Needless to say, I learned all about why this is even a question.  Did you know that under certain religious affiliations, a minister is not allowed to marry a same-sex couple? Because I didn’t.  Again, floored. I couldn’t imagine the look on my face and the lump in my stomach I would have if my ministry uttered these words.

I can’t speak about other ministries as I only know my own.  But I have to say, I love the ministry I’ve aligned with. I have the freedom to use a variety of traditions, wordings, elements - or hey, none at all.  But the most important to me? I have the freedom to marry two humans that share so much love that they want it to be known publicly and legally. My hat goes off to those who spend so much time researching their big day, only to be turned down.  Well, I will not. I welcome all with open arms, mind and heart.

I took this morning to add an LGBTQ piece into my IG and will follow up with my website and socials.  I didn’t think I ever had to, but for those who are dealing with this, I’m here!
